A Warwick man who allegedly shot his mate in the face during ‘casual drinks’ has had his matter brought back before the courts.

Police investigate murder in Warwick

The Warwick man accused of shooting another man in the face while having “casual drinks” at the victim’s house has had the serious charges brought before the courts this week.

Benjamin James Nunns’ matter was mentioned in Warwick Magistrates Court where he faces one charge each of murder, entering a dwelling to commit an indictable offence, and disqualified driving.

The 31-year-old allegedly hit another Warwick man over the head repeatedly with an object before shooting him in the face on April 5 last year.

Police claim the two men and their partners were at the 38-year-old victim’s Glen Road home for a casual get-together, with the pair getting into an argument at some point during the evening.

The 38-year-old was found slouched over the steering wheel of a car in the driveway at about 4am.

Mr Nunns allegedly broke into another house only 300m from the scene, where he was located and arrested by Warwick police.

His defence counsel requested a four-week adjournment to enable them to take instructions on the full brief of evidence.

Magistrate Julian Noud said he would be expecting an indication of whether the case would proceed to a registry committal at the next mention.

Mr Nunns’ matter will next be brought before Warwick Magistrates Court on December 1.

He is remanded in custody and will not be required to appear at his next court date.
