Thursday night is a key cup match against team from Africa

IT IS only three and a bit weeks to the Adina Polocrosse World Cup and the excitement is starting to build.

Other than the 10.30am April 22 opening game between Australia and Zimbabwe and the 2pm April 28 grand final, the match I am looking to most is the 7.30pm Thursday night game between Australia and Zambia.

Zambia proved in only their second World Cup in 2015 in South Africa they are a quality team by beating the hosts.

That loss relegated South Africa to second spot in their pool and that meant a semi-final against Australia that the Aussies lost.

The benefit of winning all three games in the pool should give the unbeaten team an easier path to the final with a semi against the second-placed team in the other pool.

Great game

NOW that the Brisbane Broncos have scored an easy win against North Queensland Cowboys, it is time for the other Cowboys, the Warwick lot, to have a string of close battles with Wattles.

Warwick Cowboys won by four points in the Basil Nolan Memorial Shield game on Saturday and the odds are the game will be close in the return game at Clifton on June 30, which is planned as a Sunday afternoon game.

I know many players and clubs like Saturday night footy but there is nothing quite like going to the footy on Sunday afternoon.
