A MURDER investigation led police to the Southern Downs this week, as digging began to uncover the body of a man who has been missing for three years.

An appeal for more information on the third anniversary of Sam Robert Price-Purcell's disappearance directed police to a property at Leyburn. Digging for the body of the missing man began on Wednesday, with a buried drug lab and firearms already located within hours of the search starting.
