Horse Power column with Gerard Walsh

IN 2003 it didn't matter if you missed the World Cup, you had the chance four years later to head to the second cup.

Australia, United Kingdom and South Africa have all hosted World Cups so odds are the 2023 cup won't be in Australia.

It was amazing the number of people who didn't go to the 2003 cup but made sure they didn't miss it four years later.

I encourage anyone with even a slight interest in sport to head to the Adina Polocrosse World Cup.

Three of the best days will be:

Monday from 9am with the opening and Australia's game against Zimbabwe, followed by the other three round one games.

Thursday night with two super games including Australia and Zambia

Sunday week with the playoff for third at noon and the final at 2pm.

The opening is always a spectacle with every cup player and umpires riding their horses into the main arena.

Autumn historics

THE Historic Racing Car Club of Queensland will be at Morgan Park Raceway on May 4-5 when the club hosts the Autumn Historics.

There are already 150 drivers nominated.

As the name indicates, there will be plenty of historic cars in action.

Sports awards

DOWN the years, my guess is a third of the monthly winners in Warwick Credit Union/ Daily News Sports Awards have come from horsepower sports.

That was again the case last year.

Nominations for sports awards close on the fifth of each month for the previous month and can be made by emailing gerardw@ warwickdailynews.com.au
