Fans of Slim Dusty and lovers of Puccini will be treated to a brand-new production set to hit Warwick next month.
Opera Queensland has launched its genre-crossing show, Are you Lonesome Tonight, which weaves a story about life on the road through classics arias and country tunes.
The cabaret-style production will be travelling more than 7000 kilometres and play to close to 30 communities, making it the most significant regional tour in Opera Queensland’s history.
Director Laura Hansford said the show had something for everyone and would give audiences a mix of the two very different genres, as well as something in between.
“Our premise for Are You Lonesome Tonight is to just to play good music, no matter where that sits or where it comes from,” Ms Hansford said.
“Good music doesn’t belong to a genre, it belongs to the people and the landscapes that we will be embracing wholeheartedly when we perform to audiences across Queensland.”
With the Warwick Showgrounds the backdrop to the outdoor-show, guests are invited to wear whatever they feel most comfortable in, whether that be a ballgown or riding boots.
The event will take place on Friday 4 June and tickets start from just $10.
