SCARVES may not be a commonly worn item for people hailing from the Gold Coast, but Sally Edwards is learning to rock them after taking on a top job here in Warwick.
Ms Edwards has just been elected as the new president of the Jumpers and Jazz in July committee, after volunteering at the quirky festival for the past two years.
She's been the CEO of national organisations, including working as the director for Horizon Housing, and worked in the not-for-profit sector and local government.
Now retired, she said she still has skills and energy to offer.
"Women of my generation have never been solely home focused, we've grown up with having a career and multitasking and there's no reason to stop now,” she said.
Ms Edwards said she had always enjoyed getting involved in the community, both in her previous home in England and in Australia, where she has lived for 27 years.
She moved to Warwick two months ago but has been "blown away” by the vibrancy of Jumpers and Jazz for the past couple of years, which is why she wanted to get involved.
"None of us is an island, we all live and prosper by being part of an active and connected community,” Ms Edwards said.
"I just think that those of us who have skills and abilities can give, if we don't give money we give ourselves to the community to make it better for everyone in that community.”
Ms Edwards is taking on the top job after the festival boasted its biggest year ever.
But she plans to build up the festival's membership base, get more youth involved and recruit more local musicians to take part.
