Police have revealed new details of the investigation into a horror crash on a Southern Downs property that killed one man and left a teenager in hospital with serious injuries.

Emergency services were called to the private property on Leyburn Forestry Rd just before 5.30pm Thursday, after reports an off-road racing truck had crashed.

Early investigations indicate the truck rolled while turning a corner and caught alight.

A 41-year-old man riding in the vehicle as a passenger sadly died at the scene, despite the desperate efforts of bystanders to render first aid.

The teenage girl driving the truck was able to free herself from the wreckage, but suffered burns to her arms.

She was flown to Toowoomba Hospital in a serious but stable condition with spinal and pelvic precautions.

A Queensland Ambulance Services spokeswoman said another man at the scene, aged in his 40s, was transported to Toowoomba Hospital in a stable condition with minor burns to his face.

Police investigations into the circumstances of the crash are continuing.
