Thousands of people are expected to pour into the Killarney Rodeo this weekend, as the event returns to its pre-Covid glory days following years of cancellations and restrictions.
After the 2020 Rodeo was cancelled and the 2021 event pushed back due to the pandemic, Saturday’s event will be a return to form and interstate visitors will return to the Killarney event for the first time in two years.
The epic program is set to include bull riding, steer wrestling, saddle rides, barrel racing, team roping, barrel racing, cracking live music, delicious barbecue food options and more.
Killarney Show and Rodeo Society president Jan Hamilton encouraged people to head out to the showgrounds and enjoy the family-friendly event.
“Usually we expect 1500 to 2000 people to turn up, but we won’t know until the day,” she said.
“We expect a lot of people from interstate, because we’re so close to the border, and from places like Kyogle – there’s a lot of good cowboys down that end.
“I can’t wait for the day. You relax when you see everyone coming through the gate and having fun with the weather being fine.”
Tickets are $15 for adults, with concessions $10 and children aged 5-12 $5. Camping is also available. Click here for more information and to buy tickets.
Gates open at 10am.
