The countdown to Jumpers and Jazz in July is on with the region’s quirkiest and happiest event set to go ahead in just over two weeks.
Jumpers and jazz media co-ordinator Bette Bonney said while there was a sense of alertness of COVID restrictions in parts of the state, people were still able to wander Warwick streets.
She said festival’s committee had been working hard to ensure strict safety measures had been put into place.
Mrs Bonney said this involved QR codes for venue check-in and wristbands to ensure social distancing measures were met.
“We’re just asking for patients as people line to scan the code,” she said.
Mrs Bonney said while the event was a hit with locals, Jumpers and Jazz had drawn in those keen to get a glimpse of the colour from all over the country.
She said the uncertainty of COVID may make travel difficult for some.
“We’ve had return visitors from Victoria, but if I’m not sure if they’ll be able to navigate their way here,” she said.
With accommodation in the region booked out, Mrs Bonney said those keen for a glimpse of the colourful streets could plan a daytrip.
“We’ve even got some caravans coming up who will be staying here for the full festival,” she said.
While the 2021 program will see the return of crowd favourites like the Killarney Bonfire Night return and Laneway Party, there will also be a few exciting additions.
Warwick will make a jazzy bid for a Guinness World Record when residents will attempt hold the biggest jazzercise class.
Mrs Bonney said she wanted to stress those keen to participate were required to register via the WIRAC’s Facebook page.
