Warwick, Stanthorpe highest achieving students for 2021 - list

The region’s students have excelled this year, achieving outstanding results and some of their schools’ highest honours. Meet Warwick’s duxes and top achievers for 2021:

Schoolboy Trent wins hearts of school community

Warwick’s graduating class of 2021 has overcome another tumultuous year under Covid to achieve outstanding results, in a testament to their hard work and dedication.

Dozens of students across Warwick and the wider region have gone above and beyond this year, receiving top marks and prestigious accolades from their schools in recognition.

These are the highest achieving students in Warwick and the Southern Downs for 2021:

Warwick State High School

Anastasia Craig was the 2021 recipient of the Warwick State High School Student of the Year award.

The Year 12 student earned subject prizes and an academic award for outstanding results, along with recognition for her participation in extra curricular, service, and cultural endeavours.

A Warwick State High School spokeswoman said Anastasia had proven herself to be a talented athlete and musician in her time at the school, and received a Level 1 Principal Award each year.

Assumption College

Six Assumption College students were named as the Warwick school’s highest achievers for the year, described as those “who have worked exceptionally hard in their studies and achieved some very high results”.

Recognised for receiving three or more academic awards were Georgia Osborne, Jewel Schnitzerling, Matthew Higgins, Kaitlyn Newley, Thomas Ramsey, and Jacob Walters.

The top honours were announced at the Assumption Year 12 graduation ceremony on Friday.

Scots PGC College

William Gilmore has been named the Scots PGC College dux for 2021 and credited for excelling in all areas of school life.

He was elected as a college captain in his final year of schooling and received a number of academic awards over the course of his education, culminating in the top honour at graduation.

Scots PGC marketing coordinator Helen Bohm said William’s excellent grades were matched by his achievements on the sports field, becoming a state medallist on 13 occasions in swimming and athletics.

“He has represented Queensland 8 times across athletics, orienteering and rugby,” she said.

“On one of these occasions, he was an Australian Athletics Champion medallist and was also part of the undefeated Reds rugby team which won the Australian Championships.”

Warwick Christian College

Three Year 10 Warwick Christian College students received the school’s top achievement awards for 2021.

Glaissa Alimboyogen was named the college dux and achieved the Year 10 Academic Excellence Award, the David Littleproud Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement, and Academic Gold.

Head of secondary education Jason Gay said Glaissa also earned a College Character Badge for embodying the school’s values.

Emily Kay earned the David Littleproud Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement, Academic Gold, and the College Cultural Badge for her creative pursuits in dance.

She has also been elected as a 2022 house captain and college prefect.

Eli Greenacre rounded out the school’s highest achievers for the year, earning the Slade College Past Student Association Bursary and David Littleproud Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement.

He also received Academic Gold and the College Competitor, Cultural, Challenge, and Character Badges for his participation in a wide range of school activities.

Stanthorpe State High School

Academic awards were given to Year 12 students Sianna Green, Taryn Hines, Arwen Keith, Emma Morison, Travis Murphy, and Asher Sweet.

Arwen also received the Mayor’s All-Rounder Award for achievement across a range of subjects and exemplary conduct, and Sianna achieved the ADF Long Tan Award for Youth Leadership and Teamwork.

Erinn Davenport, Liam Gow, Charlotte Widderick, and Alyssa Burgess were also among those to receive special school honours.

Stanthorpe High is set to announce its dux and students with outstanding ATAR results next year.

St Joseph’s School

Cooper Wren has been named the Year 12 dux at St Joseph’s School for 2021, crediting the individualised teaching style for his achievements.

He was also the recipient of an early acceptance offer for the Bachelor of Paramedicine program at the University of the Sunshine Coast.

Taylah Whiticker earned the Proxime Accessit Award for 2021, and has also been given a place in a Bachelor of Psychology course at Griffith University.

Fellow high-achieving graduates Gianna Newman and Struan Trenning have also received early acceptance offers at the University of New England and Charles Sturt University respectively.

Allora P-10 State School

Karlie Osborne earned the top honours at Allora P-10 this year, achieving both school dux and the ADF Long Tan Award.

Reagan McMillan was named sportsperson of the year, and both she and Samuel Gilmore received the Australian Olympic Changemaker Award.

Kimberly Lester was given the Academic Excellence Award for being the school’s next highest academic achiever.

Special school awards also went to Brian Gilmore, Tobias Briggs, Aiden Holmes, Hamish Gartery, and Jarod Rowan for their outstanding efforts in leadership and community service.
