WARWICK'S own Sergeant Shane Reid stole the limelight at the State Government Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Awards ceremony at the Gold Coast on Friday.

Sergeant Reid took out the Government category award for his efforts with the White Ribbon Campaign, raising awareness of domestic violence in collaboration with Australia's CEO Challenge and the Warwick Domestic and Family Violence Strategy Group.

The ceremony was held at Burleigh Heads Surf Club and the award was presented by State Minister for Community Services and Housing and Minister for Women Karen Struthers.

The award recognised Sergeant Reid for his hard work with raising White Ribbon awareness and Senior Sergeant Stewart Day said it was a fantastic achievement.

"We're very proud of his achievement and it's wonderful for him to be recognised for his efforts," Senior Sergeant Day said.

"He has been recognised state-wide as a leader in domestic violence awareness which is a terrific endorsement for the police here in Warwick," he said.

The White Ribbon project was developed by Sergeant Reid here in Warwick and has dispersed across the state with more than 3400 White Ribbon stickers displayed on vehicles in 2011.

These include the electric train service in Brisbane, emergency vehicles, courier vehicles, tow-trucks, government agent vehicles and council vehicles.

Senior Sergeant Day said Sergeant Reid's recognition had driven a positive message into the local community.

"The Warwick community will not tolerate violence against women," he said.

The project was created last year and has continued to gain awareness.
