Need some tips on how to escape the Warwick heat?

1: BE LIKE 95% of the population and cram into Rose City Shoppingworld just to hang out.

With air-conditioners working overtime, the temperature, minus that of the body heat of hundreds, is pretty good and it's definitely a viable option for anyone who doesn't have the luxury of air-con at home.

Browse the shelves of Sanity for six hours, jostle for position in the long queues all through the food court (or grab a hot coffee, not too many queues there) and park yourself in one of the comfy booths for a chin-wag.

It's a lot better than the egg-frying air anywhere else in town.

2: Go and see a movie.

Movie theatres are notorious for being five degrees cooler than they need to be, but this weekend when the weather is something akin to a party on the surface of the sun, this seems like a wonderful idea.

You could stay in there all day if you've got the cash. Movie after movie after movie.

With any luck you'll come out shivering, with square eyes and bits of popcorn in your ear.

3: Jump in the river.

Fresh water is deceptively chilly and delightful when it's 40 degrees.

Leslie Dam and the Condamine will both be hot on top but 30 centimetres down, expect the frozen wastes of Antarctica.

Be sure to look before you leap though.

You don't want add bandages or a hospital visit to a scorching hot day.

Just go for a relaxing dip anyway - it's much too hot to be exerting oneself.

4: Head into the office.

Remember those files you needed to get done before Monday?

Crank up the air-con, peel the thongs off, put some tunes on and surf Facebook for a few hours in a delightful 23 degrees.

Best bit is, the company's paying.

Find someone with a pool.
Find someone with a pool.

5: Befriend a pool owner

There are several ways to do this.

Firstly, locate a house with a pool and knock on the door and tell them you grew up in the house.

Go through the whole back story and when you're on the tour, reminiscing, exclaim, "Wow, there was never a pool back then!” and go on to say how inviting it looks and essentially invite yourself in.

Another method might be just to offer cash. "$100 for a swim in your pool.” etc.

If you have acquaintance or friends who have a pool, what better time to visit?

Everyone likes to feel popular and wanted, so this should work, even if they know they probably won't see you again until next summer.
