THE end of winter might be in sight but it will still be a few weeks before you can pack up your winter woollies.

Bureau of Meteorology senior forecaster Jonty Hall said it would be chilly this week.

"We will see the dry conditions continuing (today), (tomorrow), Wednesday and Thursday this week," he said.

"There will be a south-westerly wind as well.

"There will be some very cold overnight temperatures which are likely to continue all week."

Mr Hall said the mercury would plummet below zero from today until Wednesday.

"Frosts can be expected every morning this week," he said.

"It will be a bit milder on Thursday and reasonably warm with a top of 23 degrees."

Mr Hall said the mild weather would only stick around for the one day though.

"There will be a cold front coming through on Friday," he said. "It is going to be a bit brutal. There will be strong south-westerly winds and the temperature will struggle to reach a maximum temperature of 12 degrees.

"The cold air will arrive soon after the sun rises and it will not warm up at all."

The dry conditions will continue right through the weekend.
