Count Konrad Wild Allis pleads guilty to dangerous driving, assault and possessing explosives

A magistrate has slammed a Queensland man’s racist road rage stoush, where he told police he went a bit ‘wild’ after assaulting a man and later crashing into his vehicle, saying there was ‘no excuse’ for the offending.

What happens when you are charged with a crime?

A Dalveen man’s road rage landed him in court, with details of his racist assault on a motorist exposed.

In January, Count Konrad Wild Allis was driving when a man overtook him which began the short-lived road feud, police prosecutor Sergeant Andrew Grafton told Warwick Magistrates Court on September 11.

The diesel mechanic caught up with the man at a stop sign and was “upset” at the man, before getting out of his vehicle and began shouting and banging on the man’s driver-side door “forcefully”.

Moments later, at another stop sign, the court was told Allis again caught up with the man, going up to his vehicle, shouting towards him before opening the man’s door, punching him and driving off.

The two vehicles began driving off and at 6.10pm, police arrived at the scene of a crash noticing a Mazda 3 – which was later identified to be the victim’s car – on the footpath, with significant damage.

Allis’ vehicle, a Sprinter van, was parked on the side of the road. The court was told police spoke to Allis at the scene, and he told officers that he was on the inside lane, and indicated to change lanes and collided with the man beside him.

Allis told police he was feeling “that wild” and called the man a “nasty racist remark” being a “stupid black c--t”.

Dashcam footage of the incident revealed that Allis had changed lanes directly into the man’s vehicle, causing the vehicle “significant damage” as well as damaging a street sign.

The man was treated at the scene by emergency services.

On May 3, a police warrant executed on Allis’ home revealed he had possessed ammunition and gunpowder being two bottles of gunpowder, two boxes of .22 ammo and two shotgun shells.

Defence lawyer Troy Krahenbring labelled the conduct as “poor and unbecoming” and noted his client had realised in hindsight “there never was going to be a positive outcome”.

Mr Krahenbring also told the court that Allis had suffered poor sleep, nightmares and PTSD from being a first responder to a crash in South Australia eight months prior.

Allis pleaded guilty to one charge each of common assault, dangerous operation of a vehicle and possession of explosives.

Magistrate Virginia Sturgess said the Allis’ offending was “quite concerning” and noted the mechanic had a history of weapons offences, including weapons possession, wilful damage and unregistered firearms.

“You have poor traffic history, and you have suffered difficulty in keeping a driver’s licence,” Ms Sturgess told the man.

“There is an underlying anger problem here, but there is no excuse – anger at a driver is no justification for that.”

Allis was fined $1500 for all three charges, and lost three demerit points for the dangerous driving charge.

Items seized by police were forfeit.

No convictions were recorded.
