THE world is now local paramedic Clare Denver's oyster after receiving her advanced certificate in paramedics.

After two and a half years of rigorous training and on-the-job experience in Warwick, Clare is happy to have finally completed her certificate.

Ms Denver thanked her colleagues' mateship and guidance which was a valuable resource throughout her training.

"Here it's just us. So I was blessed to be placed in Warwick, the standards are always kept so high," she said.

Attending five to six call-outs on an average day, the crews are kept busy while keeping up to date with the latest medical training.

"Warwick isn't as sleepy as you may think," said the former member of the parachuting infantry surgical team, who served for six years.

While many of us may think attending to vehicle collisions and chest pains is a far cry from parachuting, Ms Denver insists paramedics work was always her passion.

"I never got to work with people as much as I do now; I like to know I am directly making a positive impact," she said.

The smiles and thank yous received are another thing which makes the often traumatic job worth it.

"In one of the worst experiences in a person's life you are welcomed in and trusted," she said. "That is rewarding; that makes it all worthwhile."
