AFTER a year of closure, beer is set to start flowing again at one of Warwick's oldest and most iconic pubs, the Stockyard Hotel.

A post shared on the pub's Facebook page last night announced the Stocky would be reopening soon, after some maintenance.

The news delighted many in the community, who were clearly pleased they will soon be able to quench their thirst once more at the beloved drinking hole.

"Yeeesssssss,” Geoff Lang commented.

From Natarlie Potter, it was a big "Yay!”

The news comes almost exactly one year since the Stocky was suddenly closed with owners thanking patrons for their support but "various reasons” had led them to shut the doors.

Two weeks before the closure announcement, former publicans Ann and George Smith spoke out about a string of 'malicious' attacks on the pub, including vandals smashing its front door.

In March of this year, Ann Smith shared a post on the pub's Facebook page to remind followers the pub was up for sale, saying an urgent sale was needed due to ill health.

Now the pub, which sits on the corner of Lyons and Percy Sts, is in new hands and by the looks of the response on social media, will have plenty of people lining up for a cold one when the doors swing open.
