THE Oak Tree Retirement Village is moving ahead with the next stage of its expansion after applying to the Southern Downs Regional Council for changes to its master plan.
There are currently 37 villas built at the site and Oak Tree altered plans for the next 12 to be built over two stages.
The organisation's national operations manager Cameron Goffage said there were plans for 60 villas on the O'Leary St site once it's completed.
"The good news is we propose to start construction of the six new villas in September,” Mr Goffage said.
"We did the development application change for 12 villas and the feedback from the council has has been very positive.
"We've gone to a full brink construction,” he said.
Oak Tree will wait until the new villas start selling before it applies to council to build the remaining 11.
The Warwick site is one of 25 retirement villages that Oak Tree owns around the country.
They're marketed toward people aged 50 and over.
"Our average entry age is in the early 60s, Mr Goffage said.
"They are people who can look after and cook for themselves.”
The units are two to bedrooms, with a shared living space and kitchen.
They also have access to a community hub, bowling green and swimming pool.
Centre management runs social activities, but for most part, occupants live independently.
Occupants lease the units for 99 years and pay a service fee to the centre manager.
When it comes time to move on, Oak Tree will sell the units on the occupant's behalf, however, if it doesn't sell within 16 months there's an option for the centre to buy back the unit
Oak Tree is hosting and open day over the weekend. It has invited the public to walk through the complex and meet the staff.
The Oak Tree Open Day runs from 9am-2pm on Friday and Saturday, August 10-11.
