Drivers travelling through the intersection of Freestone and Charleys Gully Roads should anticipate delays with works to begin next week.
The intersection, identified as a crash hotspot, will undergo safety upgrades as part of the Federal Government’s 2020-21 Black Spot Program.
The upgrades include widening and sealing sections of Peters Road, installing new signage and updated line markings.
Peters Road, between Freestone and Watts Roads, will be closed while the work is completed.
A Southern Downs Regional Council spokeswoman said residents would still be able access their properties.
“By identifying known sites of concern and fixing these through government support, we hope to reduce serious injury and help ensure everyone on our roads reaches their destination safely,” she said.
Standard construction hours would be Monday to Friday from 6.30am to 5.30pm, and work is expected to be completed by June 11.
