The Warwick Rodeo will return this year and provide the town with a significant economic boost after the hard decision was made to cancel the event in 2020.
Marketing and events co-ordinator for the iconic Warwick Rodeo, Teilah Mckelvey, said the premier event would be back better than ever from October 25 to 31.
“This year we will continue to host the APRA National Finals, where Australia’s top cowboys and cowgirls will compete for their titles,” she said.
The Gold Cup Campdraft, often referred to as the Melbourne Cup of its field, will also be back.
Ms Mckelvey said they will be working closely with Queensland Health to ensure they deliver a Covid-safe event.
“We can’t wait to invite visitors to our region to enjoy some good old country hospitality, enjoy the spectacle that is the rodeo and campdraft and kick up the dust into the night with live entertainment,” she said.
Recent rain in the region has also bolstered rodeo-lovers spirits.
“The event has pushed through a few tough years with drought and the issues it posed with water security,” Ms Mckelvey said.
Southern Downs Regional Council mayor Vic Pennisi said the return of the Warwick Rodeo was “fantastic news”.
“We look forward to welcoming back all the fanfare of what is widely regarded as Australia’s Most Famous rodeo,” he said.
“ I have no doubt that the Warwick Show & Rodeo Society will host an event that visitors, spectators and competitors will remember for years to come.”
Ticket release information will be posted on their website and via their social media channels.
