Victoria Bridge closure; How to get to QPAC car park

Whether you’re off to see a show or exploring South Bank, there has been confusion about how to get to QPAC once Victoria Bridge closes. We have the answers.

Cars and private vehicles will no longer be allowed to use South Brisbane’s Victoria Bridge from this Sunday, which will heavily impact the way drivers can get to the Queensland Performing Arts Centre.

On 24 January Victoria Bridge will be converted into a green bridge, closing the turn to and from Melbourne Street to the QPAC Cultural Centre car parks from 8pm.

“From this date, Cultural Centre car parks, including the Performing Arts car park, are only accessible via Stanley Place (adjacent to the State Library of Queensland) and a left turn to the Cultural Centre Tunnel,” QPAC wrote on social media.

“Patrons travelling from the north or west can access Stanley Place from the William Jolly Bridge.

“Patrons travelling from the south or east can travel on Cordelia Street to Montague Road and proceed past GoMA to Stanley Place.”

Victoria Bridge will remain open for patrons to walk across.

DIRECTIONS FOR MOTORISTS

From the north

Avoid the CBD and take the Inner City Bypass, turn off at Countess Street and follow signs for William Jolly Bridge, once over the bridge, Stanley Place is on the left.

Alternatively, if tolls aren’t an issue, stay on the Inner City Bypass and follow signs for the Go-Between Bridge, then turn left onto Peel Street.

From the west

For commuters coming from the western suburbs, Take Coronation Drive to William Jolly Bridge or the Go-Between Bridge.

From the east

Stanley Street East and Vulture Street will take travellers to Grey Street, where the turn into Stanley Place is on the right side at the State Library of Queensland after travelling past QPAC.

From the CBD

From the city , head south on Roma Street before turning left on Skew Street onto the William Jolly Bridge.
