A SUBURBAN shopping centre has been given the ultimate makeover with a new entertainment and dining experience aimed at “kidults”.
Mirvac-owned Toombul Shopping Centre will open its fun hub tomorrow after a multimillion-dollar top-floor refurbishment.
UPSTAIRS by Toombul will have a range of dining and entertainment options aimed at the affluent funsters in their 20s and 30s. There will be an early taste tonight of what to expect with the launch of Queensland’s first Archie Brothers Cirque Electriq – a circus/arcade bar and restaurant offering everything from dodgem cars and vintage arcade games to cocktails topped with fairy floss and Golden Gaytimes.
Mirvac Retail portfolio manager Joanna Corrick said it was a “totally new concept and destination for the community and wider Brisbane audiences”.
UPSTAIRS’ restaurants, cafes and bars include Dapple + Waver, a bar offering modern Australian cuisine, Little Red Dumpling, Niku Ramen, burger joint Hello Harry, Sushi HYO, Expresso Max, and Il Gancio, a modern take on European favourites.
There will be live music and entertainment, including pop-ups such as a neon playground and popcorn ball pit, as well as freebies and specials during the opening week.
Toombul, which opened in 1967, includes Coles, Kmart, Target and Aldi, more than 110 specialty stores and an eight-screen BCC cinema complex.
