Two police motorcycles involved in crash at Ironpot near Rockhampton

New details on a crash involving two police motorbikes have been revealed, with both officers still in hospital receiving treatment. It is understood the crash was at low-speed and no other vehicles were involved.

Two police motorcycle riders remain in hospital in stable conditions following a crash near Rockhampton on Saturday night.

The crash occurred near the intersection of Yeppoon Rd near Dairy Inn Rd at Ironpot, About 6.20pm with the road closed until 11pm.

A Queensland Police Service spokesman said the crash was “very low speed impact” with one police bike hitting the back of the other.

He said no other vehicles were involved in the incident.

One officer sustained broken bones as a result of the crash and the other was taken to hospital as a precaution.

The QPS spokesman said both officers - a 43-year-old and a 44-year-old - were both receiving ongoing support.

On Monday morning they both remained in Rockhampton Hospital in stable conditions.

There was speculation on social media police were pursuing a stolen vehicle however it is understood this was not the case and no other vehicles were involved.
