TWO children have been involved in near-drownings in separate incidents in Queensland this afternoon.

The first incident happened at Dolphin Heads – north of Mackay – just before 4pm, when Queensland Ambulance Service was called to a location on Beach Rd.

QAS Media said the male child was assessed by paramedics and taken to Mackay Hospital in a stable condition.

Another boy is in a serious condition following another near-drowning at Springfield Central.

Paramedics were called to Southern Cross Circuit, where the public Orion Lagoon is situated, at 5.10pm and were treating the male child following the incident.
