A truck driver in his 30s transported to hospital in a serious condition has been discharged and the Greenbank Arterial Rd reopened after a major crash in Logan on Wednesday morning.

A Princess Alexandra Hospital spokeswoman said two men in their 30s transported to the hospital this morning had both been discharged.

Paramedics, including critical care, were called to Springfield Greenbank Arterial at Thompson Rd about 7.10am after a truck and a vehicle collided.

The major road was closed, causing delays up to 15 minutes, after the truck driver had to be extricated by multiple emergency service crews.

The man was transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a serious but stable condition with minor injuries.

The driver of the vehicle, also a male in his 30s, was transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition.

The road was reopened about 3pm.

Queensland Ambulance Service Acting Senior Operations Supervisor Mark Benstead said a “very lengthy extraction” was required to free the truck driver.

“He was very heavily entrapped and required a very lengthy extraction in conjunction with our colleagues from Queensland Fire and Emergency Services and Queensland Police Service,” he said.

“It was a collaborative effort. In my 14 years of experience, the mechanisms involved with this incident certainly was one that I will remember.”

He said that both drivers were “very lucky” after both vehicles suffered significant damage.

“Most of these jobs can be extremely confronting when arriving on scene.”

The smaller vehicle involved in the crash was flipped onto its side, but the driver was able to remove himself and escaped with minor injuries.

Mr Benstead reminded Queenslanders to exercise caution, and make sure they remain vigilant, patient and courteous while on the roads.
