Thunderstorms, heavy rain expected to hit ‘nearly all of’ Queensland

A fresh severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for parts of Queensland after the state’s southeast was lashed with heavy rain on Monday afternoon. LATEST UPDATES

After the state’s southeast was hit by heavy rainfall this afternoon, the weather bureau has issued another severe thunderstorm warning.

The Bureau Of Meteorology issued a severe thunderstorm warning at 7.50pm for parts of the Central Highlands and Coalfields, Wide Bay and Burnett and Darling Downs and Granite Belt forecast districts.

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours in Rolleston, Springsure, Woorabinda, Inglewood, Chinchilla and Carnarvon National Park.

Earlier today, the Sunshine Coast saw heavy falls in some areas, with Upper Doonan recording 50mm since 9am.

Tewantin recorded 38mm of rain while Doonan Creek saw 45mm of falls.

South of Brisbane, Slacks Creek recorded 35mm and there was 26mm in Forestdale.

Earlier storm alerts were cancelled, following a Bureau of Meteorology warning that thunderstorms were expected across “nearly all of Queensland” today.
