Mackay toddler Korbin Sprott, who was mauled by a dog on the weekend, has died.

LITTLE Korbin Sprott's tragic death could save the lives of three other children after his parents donated his organs.

The three-year-old died on Monday, two days after being mauled by his grandfather's dog.

His grandmother Debby Castle this morning thanked everyone who had supported the family via a Facebook tribute page for the boy.

``Korbin was an organ donor so our little angel has given life, hope and joy to three children and their families and I wish them long and happy lives,'' she wrote.

Earlier it was reported, TOGETHER they prayed for the little boy with the big blue eyes and the never-ending smile.

But two days after Korbin John Stuart Sprott was mauled by his grandfather's pet dog, his heartbroken family had to say goodbye.

Three-year-old Korbin died on Monday after the pet German Shepherd bit his neck, puncturing an artery and causing massive blood loss.

Korbin's grandfather was also bitten as he tried to free the little boy.

Neighbours jumped the fence of the Grant St home and rescued Korbin, carrying him out onto the street.

Medical students, who saw the commotion, performed CPR until paramedics arrived.

A Department of Community Safety spokeswoman said the little boy was rushed to Mackay Base Hospital and ambulance crews also transported a man with injuries.

A woman was treated at the house suffering from shock.

Yesterday, his father James told The Courier-Mail his son was a "beautiful little man'', while friends and family described Korbin on social networking sites as an angel who brought only brightness to their lives.

"Korbin, you always had a smile on your dial, you gave everyone joy and smiles,'' a friend wrote on a tribute page set up for the little boy.

"Just the other week my little girl and I were chasing you around at the pool hearing us all laugh and giggle, trying to splash her and pretending you were a crocodile.

"Oh dearest little boy, those memories will always be close to my heart, I promise not to forget those memories.''

Another friend said Korbin lived a "short but beautiful life''.

"I wish I could of seen you grow up … just two weeks ago you were sitting next to me playing with my phone and sharing your toys with me and walking with Nana … to go get lunch ... never would of thought this would of ever happened,'' she wrote.

Korbin's family also took to social networking sites to thank those who tried to save him.

"I am Korbin's mummy and I would like to thank you from the bottom of heart,'' Tara Fahy wrote not long after neighbours came to her son's aid.

"He is in a critical condition and it is not looking too good.

"I would like to thank you in person when I can.''

Sam Roche, Korbin's auntie, also left a message of thanks.

"I would like to say THANK YOU so, so much from the bottom of my heart, everyone of those loving and caring medical students (who helped) Tara and Cody's lil man! He is in Townsville and far from stable,'' she wrote.

Korbin died the next day.

A Mackay Regional Council spokesman confirmed the dog had been destroyed at the request of the owner.

Friends have launched an appeal to help the family cover expenses.
