Police are investigating allegations of a sexting scandal involving three of South East Queensland’s most prestigious schools.

It is understood explicit photographs of a student are being circulated on Snapchat between teenagers who attend Toowoomba Grammar School, The Glennie School and Fairholme Grammar.

Each of the elite schools command fees of $16,000 to more than $20,000 per year.

The latest accusation comes less than two years after Toowoomba Grammar faced an incident where three students were embroiled in a fake sexting scandal. A video posted to TikTok in 2023 included fake images of the students depicted as sending inappropriate material.

Toowoomba Grammar is aware of the most recent allegations, but headmaster John Kinniburgh did not respond directly to questions about the incident.

Dr Kinniburgh said that “TGS works in partnership with parents and other schools to support our students and the wider community of children in our area.

“Our policies, procedures and engagement with students guide our staff in providing support. Those supports are accessible to members of our community.

“We do not engage in child specific matters. To do so would put a child at particular risk of harm.”

The Glennie School said it was taking the allegations extremely seriously and has contacted police.

Fairholme Grammar were also contacted for comment.

Police have been made aware of the images.

All three schools recently united to launch a new policy that delays parents buying their children smartphones until after year 7.
