Four men in their 20s have been hurt, one critically, in a workplace explosion on the Gold Coast.

The incident happened just before 8am when a truck burst into flames at a Gold Coast Isuzu on Kingston Drive at Arundel.

Multiple Queensland Ambulance Service teams responded, including the High Acuity Response Unit.

QAS supervisor Stuart Cutajar said the worst of the injured, a man in his 20s, had suffered “life-threatening” burns and been transported to Royal Brisbane and Womens Hospital.

Another man had “significant” burns to his face, right arm and torso while a third male victim had burns to his hand.

They both were taken to Gold Coast University Hospital.

A fourth worker who witnessed the horrific incident was treated for shock at the scene.

Mr Cutajar said workers performed first-aid on their colleagues and “did a fantastic job helping us treat these patients”.

He said smoke was still billowing at the scene when paramedics arrived, with fireys and police also in attendance.

Two firefighting crews worked to extinguish a blaze which had broken out in the commercial building, possibly linked to a truck.

The fire was extinguished by 8.10am and firefighters have been dampening down the area.
