‘The Melbourne Cup of the Outback’: Race on for Birdsville tickets

The Birdsville Races return this year more popular than ever after being cancelled last year due to Covid.

Birdsville Races: The Melbourne Cup of the Outback

TICKETS for the iconic Birdsville Races are selling like hot cakes with some options sold out within 12 hours.

The event’s VIP tickets allocation has been exhausted for race day entry on Friday September 3 and Saturday September 4, with only a handful of spots left for members of the Birdsville Races Roadies.

Renowned as the Melbourne Cup of the outback, the ticketing to the event has been reshuffled so attendees have a spot secured and a weekend to look forward to.

Birdsville Race Club vice-president Gary Brook said the ticket sales were “exciting” after having to cancel the races this time last year.

“For the first time ever we won’t be selling tickets at the racetrack gates this September – anyone wanting to come to the event will need to pre-purchase their tickets online before they head out to Birdsville,” he said.

“It will help us with managing numbers and ensure we run a Covid safe event." The Birdsville Races features live music, cocktail parties and fashions on the field and attracts thousands of visitors each year.
