A semi rural suburb just north of Brisbane has become yet another community rocked by the news of their local favourite cafe unexpectedly closing.
The Little Tree Bake and Brew House in postcard-perfect Samford has become the next in a long line of hospitality venues to close their doors on their loyal customers.
Popular among locals within the Samford Village, the cafe was known for their in-house brewed coffee, decadent pastries and their artisan sourdough.
Taking to social media on Tuesday, the cafe shared the heartbreaking news to their hundreds of customers.
“With heavy hearts and hopeful spirits, we’re sad to say goodbye — Little Tree is closing,” the post said.
“We have loved building this beautiful community & sharing our food with you. Your support, warmth, and smiles made this little cafe something truly special and it’s been an honour to create something we’re so proud of.”
Owner Joumana Anti told The Courier-Mail risings costs and other challenges tied to the hospitality industry were contributors to the closure and was “time to leave on a high note”.
“It’s been an amazing journey, ups and downs and round and round, but sometimes it’s just time to leave on a high note and move on to the next thing,” Ms Anti said.
“And as sad as it is, it’s been beautiful, and the community has been beautiful, and like losing them is going to be pretty sad … and everyone shed a few tears.
“It’s a challenge, but at the end of the day, that’s life, we make changes and it’s going to be okay.”
She went on to say something new would be taking over space that locals are sure to “get excited about”.
Their last day of trading will be Sunday April 13 and will be open for extended trading hours for “one last hurrah”.
Regulars have been left devastated at the news, saying the cafe was “irreplaceable”.
“Nooo! What am I going to do for sourdough now! Hands down the best sourdough in Brisbane,” one commenter said.
“Oh this is really sad, my favourite place in the Village. Little Tree will be very missed,” another said.
“Good luck with your new venture, we will miss you guys so much. Coffee mornings will never be the same.”
