A MAN has died after earlier being pulled unconscious from a lake on the Sunshine Coast.
Paramedics were called to Currimundi Lake at Wurtulla, north of Dicky Beach, just before 7.15am.
Patrolling surf lifesavers were on the scene within minutes, using an external defibrillator and performing CPR to try to resuscitate the man, believed to be aged 60.
Queensland Ambulance Service operations supervisor Lorenz Kleinberg said QAS had also responded with at least three teams, as well as the LifeFlight Helicopter.
First responders performed CPR on the man for about 40 minutes but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of everyone concerned, the man was unable to be revived and has passed away at the scene,” Mr Kleinberg said.
It’s understood the man had suffered a medical episode in the water and was there with his family.
Senior Sergeant Matt Campbell said initially emergency services thought they were attending a drowning but it appeared the man had succumbed to a health condition.
He thanked surf lifesavers for their “excellent response” in being on the scene within minutes and performing CPR for such a lengthy time.
