Surfing legend Mick Fanning has proudly unveiled his new baby daughter.
Fanning and partner Breeana Randall took to Instagram on Tuesday to post an adorable picture of their sleeping girl, Lyla Skye Fanning, who was born last Thursday.
It’s believed the couple held off announcing the news until after Saturday’s funeral for Fanning’s brother Ed, who died suddenly last month from an infected cut in Madagascar where he had been living and working as a surf coach.
Ed, 48, was Fanning’s last surviving brother and the third to die prematurely.
Another brother, Peter Fanning, died aged 43 from a health-related condition in 2015 as Mick duelled for a fourth world title in Hawaii. His other brother, Sean, was killed in a car crash at Rainbow Bay in 1998.
A tearful Fanning gave an emotional tribute to Ed at a service at Greenmount Surf Club on the southern Gold Coast on Saturday attended by hundreds of mourners, including fellow surfing greats.
The service was followed by a traditional paddle-out ceremony, led by Mick.
Lyla, a little sister to Mick and Breeana’s first child, Xander, 3 will no doubt bring joy to the couple after the tragedy of losing Ed.
