New restrictions for QLD as two new COVID-19 cases recorded

A miner has spoken out about where she travelled in the Sunshine Coast community after she tested positive to the Delta strain of Covid-19.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk confirmed the woman, along with another resident linked to the Portuguese Family Centre, had tested positive to Covid-19 in Queensland.

The fly-in, fly-out employee at the Northern Territory gold mine was out in the community for one day while unknowingly infectious.

The Northern Territory woman involved in the latest Covid-19 scramble confirmed to the Daily she had shared her movements on a Facebook community board.

She said she flew from the Granites gold mine to Darwin on Friday and then to Brisbane where she caught a shuttle bus to a residence in Bli Bli.

“I wore a mask the whole time from Granites to the residence in Bli Bli including on the shuttle bus,” she wrote.

“At this point I had no symptoms and was unaware of the virus.”

The woman said she then left the residence and travelled by car to Moura on June 26.

The woman who claims she contracted the Delta strain of Covid-19 took to a Facebook community board on Monday.

“I looked at my phone at this stage and found the notification from my work site stating that a positive case had been confirmed and that all employees were to get tested immediately and quarantine themselves,” she wrote.

“I drove directly back to the residence in Bli Bli and quarantined.”

By Sunday the woman said she “went directly to Nambour Hospital” for testing and quarantined in Bli Bli until she received her result.

“Once the positive result was confirmed I waited until an ambulance collected me from the residence and transported me to SCUH where I will be in isolation until a negative result is obtained after 14 days min,” she wrote.

“At no time did I mix within your community.

“I write this to inform you all for peace of mind.”

Chief health officer Jeannette Young said in a press conference on Monday the woman had attended some petrol stations and a few roadside cafes before testing positive to the virus.

She said the latest exposure sites would be released later today.

“We’ve got enormous risk throughout our state,” Dr Young said.

“We don’t know where this virus might pop up.”
