Drinking, cooking, beauty, and cleaning products can now be replaced with water, a businesswoman says.

HUMANS need water to survive but Coolum's Mallika Foord believes our current supply could be doing us more harm than good.

The businesswoman's aim is to purifying water that may be riddled with chemicals and heavy metals, and reduce waste.

Ms Foord started distributing Enagic's Kangen Water systems in December last year and said by filtering and changing the water's PH levels, the machine created five different water types that could be used for drinking, cooking, beauty and cleaning.

"It gets rid of fluoride, chlorine, pathogens, any bacteria or hormones in the water … so you're getting the best source of water imaginable," she said.

"And if you think of all the plastic items in our house, a lot of it is to do with shampoo, conditioner, face products or cleaning products and with the PH being able to change, you can replace those household products that are in plastic bottles by using the water."

Being a Japanese-based company, the Kangen 8 features eight platinum-dipped titanium plates that produce ionised alkaline and acidic waters through electrolysis.

The owner of Divinity Wellbeing said she could eliminate the need for chemicals and create an environmentally friendly cleaning product at the press of a button.

"In the kitchen, I use a PH of 11.5 on heavy grease and because it is so basic, it emulsifies the fat pretty much immediately … no chemicals or plastic bottles - just basic water," she said.

Apart from the environmental benefits, Ms Foord said the improved drinking water could help our overall health.

"If our water that we drink is coming out of a bottle, it's got plastic, it's got xenoestrogens and we are consuming that but if it's in its purest form, it can do the job that it is supposed to do," she said.
