A 52-year-old man was caught masturbating in a garage of a retirement village unit not even two weeks after he was put on probation for similar offending.
Nambour man Vincent Michael Piscioneri pleaded guilty at Maroochydore Magistrates Court on February 19 to one count of doing an indecent act in a place which the public has access to.
Police prosecutor Jeanette Grigoris said police were called to the Hibiscus Nambour retirement village about 5pm on February 15 after reports of a man in female underwear exposing himself and masturbating in an open garage.
Police officers spoke to witnesses, one who said he had confronted Piscioneri after he spotted him completely naked apart from underwear, who then ran away from the area.
He was located masturbating in a nearby garden shed covered in vegetable oil, still wearing the same underwear, the court heard.
Sergeant Grigoris told the court Piscioneri did not live in the retirement village, but lived nearby on the same street.
She said Piscioneri had been sentenced for a similar incident in 2022, where he was caught pleasuring himself on the verandah of an aged-care home in the early morning.
After he was spotted by security, he fled over a fence and was later discovered by police at another property lying down masturbating whilst wearing sunnies, socks and a G-string around his ankles.
His latest court appearances were in January, 2023 and on February 5 for separate charges of indecent acts in public and was fined $1000 and put on 12 months probation respectively.
Defence lawyer Rachel Holland said Piscioneri lived off Job Seeker payment and was taking medication which was “not mixing well” with the meth he had been consuming.
She said it had contributed to his “bizarre behaviour”.
Ms Holland said Piscioneri has “no self-control” when he is offered the drug and is hoping to seek rehabilitation.
Piscioneri, who was on video link, then told the court he was wearing another person’s underwear during the incident.
He began wiping tears from his eyes with his sleeves.
Magistrate Chris Callaghan sentenced him to six months imprisonment suspended for 12 months, with his five days in pre-sentence custody declared as time served.
Piscioneri then covered his face and sobbed into his hands.
