Two teenage boys were chased down and arrested by police after a 14-year-old boy allegedly lit a fire at a local Sunshine Coast business which meant it had to be evacuated.
On Tuesday, March 18, two teen boys were arrested after a fire was deliberately lit at the Caloundra Reject Shop on the Sunshine Coast.
Three people were evacuated following the business blaze.
Emergency services were called to the retail shop on Bulcock St about 5.05pm on Tuesday, March 18, to reports of fire and smoke.
Earlier, a Queensland Fire Department spokesman said three crews attended alongside police and paramedics and had the fire under control by 5.25pm.
“Crews have removed some burned product from the shop, and a primary search is complete,” the spokesman said.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said three people were assessed on scene, but no injuries were reported.
A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman confirmed the fire was extinguished and no one was injured during the incident.
“Police later located and arrested two teenage boys behind the shop,” she said.
“A 14-year-old Caloundra boy has been charged with one count of endangering particular property by fire. He has been dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act.
“Another teenage boy was released without charge.”
