The partner of a beloved Sunshine Coast mum-of-two has recounted her last moments and paid tribute to her as the community reels from her shock death.
Woombye Snakes Football Club secretary Amber Stokes had spent Tuesday morning, July 4, doing all the things she would normally including going for a run.
Her partner and club president Andy Kinden said the fit, active 46-year-old returned home, lay on her bed and then passed out.
Emergency services rushed to her Coes Creek home and paramedics tried to save her.
Her cause of death at this stage remains unknown.
The football community is mourning Ms Stokes’ shock death and Mr Kinden said she was a “beautiful person” in every way.
“She’s everyone’s friend, so kind and always with a smile on her face,” he said.
The couple had dated for about nine months and had known each other for years beforehand.
Mr Kinden said among his favourite memories of his partner was their last weekend together.
The couple had celebrated Mr Kinden’s birthday with family and friends and then they celebrated another birthday of a fellow club member.
Mr Kinden said she’d been surrounded by loved ones.
Ms Stokes is survived by her two children, 17-year-old Sienna and 20-year-old Cooper who are being looked after by their dad Nigel, family, school friends and fellow football club members.
Sienna played with her mum in the same women’s division one club team.
Tributes are also flowing online for the popular player and mum.
Julie Darrant wrote on behalf of the Kawana women’s division one team that their “sincere condolences” were with Ms Stokes’ family, the Woombye women’s team and everyone at the club.
“A formidable opponent on the field and a lovely lady off the field,” she wrote.
“Our hearts go out to you all at this time.”
Riley Wilmot wrote that the news was “absolutely devastating and unbelievable” and was sending thoughts and love to all her knew her.
A GoFundMe fundraiser has also been created for Ms Stokes’ family by Leisa Webbe.
As at the afternoon of June 7, more than $11,000 had been raised of the $15,000 target.
She said Ms Stokes’ death had “come as a shock” to everyone who knew her.
“This is being felt far and wide across the community and we reach out now for your help for this beautiful family in their time of grief,” Ms Webbe wrote.
“Anything you can give will help towards any financial outlays that lie ahead for the family through this hard and difficult time.”
