A BUSHFIRE in the Glasshouse Mountains has damaged Queensland Rail infrastructure, forcing trains on the Sunshine Coast line to be suspended for the rest of the day.
Queensland Rail announced just before 2pm that trains between Beerwah and Caboolture will be suspended for the rest of the day due to damage sustained to "overhead line equipment" from the bushfire.
There were two bushfires in the Glasshouse Mountains today.
Five Queensland Fire and Emergency Service trucks were this afternoon on scene at Steve Irwin Way and Barrs Connections Rd, dampening down a blaze from earlier today.
Steve Irwin Way was closed for a couple of hours as emergency services fought the blaze but has since reopened.
It is understood crews were no longer required at a bushfire on nearby Morrison Rd that broke out just before noon as it had been extinguished.
"Buses are currently operating between Caboolture and Landsborough and a train shuttle service is operating between Nambour and Landsborough stations," a QR spokesman said.
"The 5.45pm Roma Street to Gympie North service will be cancelled from Roma Street to Beerwah and will commence at 7.06pm from Landsborough travelling to Gympie North."
In order to meet this train, customers for Gympie North should travel by train to Caboolture and connect with buses to Landsborough according to official QR advice.
