1. Pie Guru

Park Place, Caloundra

FOR Mark Yerbury the best pies start with great pastry.

A pastry chef by trade, Mr Yerbury opened Pie Guru at Caloundra with his wife Bree at Easter and word has quickly spread of the delicious selection.

But it's their toppings that have people talking.

The most popular choice for Pie Guru customers is to top their flaky pastry pies with mash, gravy and mushy pies. It's enough to make you hungry already.

Mr Yerbury said he started the Pie Guru franchise after being in the marketing and sales side of a pastry manufacturer, after his work as a pastry chef.

The variety includes steak, curry steak, steak cheese and bacon, curry chicken, the guru works with egg, bacon, cheese and onion and also gluten-free options.

"A good pie starts with good quality pastry," Mr Yerbury said.

"Then there's good quality ingredients to create a tasty filling full of flavour."

Brooke Hayter: Crunchy and full of chunky meat. Kids love them and gluten free options make it much easier to please everyone.
