THE timing for a range of major projects in Mooloolaba's tourist strip will be critical to minimising the effects of construction.

Cr John Connolly said he wanted work on the Brisbane Road carpark redevelopment to start about February next year, with 375 public carparks to be returned for use at the site by December.

"Staging the developments over the next few years will be important at Mooloolaba," Cr Connolly said.

He hoped Mooloolaba place-making work at Loo with a View would start about February 2019 and construction of a new hotel being planned by property developers Aria would start in mid 2019.

Cr John Connolly said the Brisbane Road carpark application had come after lengthy negotiations with the developer.

He said there had been talk of a major development on the site for decades.

"It has virtually been 30 years in the making this project," Cr Connolly said.

He said a paid parking arrangement for the council controlled carparks would be discussed with business representative groups in Mooloolaba.

"There will be some form of paid parking and it is to be decided what (that will be) yet."

Cr Connolly said the council was continuing its work to widen Brisbane Road to accommodate traffic flow in and out of Mooloolaba, with about 70 per cent of required property already purchased by the council.
