A THREE-STOREY sawmill in Caboolture has been engulfed in flames after a large fire broke out earlier this afternoon.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said they received a call about the blaze at Henzell Rd at 3.10pm.

She said five crews were on scene and were attempting to make entry in the back of the building to attack the fire.

She said the crews were using foam to hit the fire and she understood aerial assistance had been requested.

Photos from a 7 News helicopter showed the structure had been gutted.
