A series of luxury units could soon replace one of the last remaining beach shacks in an exclusive coastal enclave, months after the owner listed the property for sale.

Just 400 metres from the beach, the property at 51 Elanda St, Sunshine Beach, was listed for sale in August this year for $5m, however property data shows the home remains on the market.

The home last sold in 2011 for $1,580,000, according to the property data.

Six luxury units have been proposed for a Sunshine Beach site, which is currently home to one of the street’s last remaining beach shacks.

Plans submitted to the Noosa Council on behalf of the property owner late last month show proposed designs for a three-storey apartment block, featuring a pool, private balconies and courtyards.

The planning report stated the existing four-bedroom single-storey home, which boasts ocean views, would be demolished to make way for the proposed development.

Each of the six units would have access to a private balcony or courtyard.

The planning report states two units will be on each of the three storeys, with an additional rooftop terrace.

“The proposal comprises four three-bedroom units and two two-bedroom units, with two units proposed per level. The proposal will be three levels plus a basement level and a rooftop terrace level. All units are proposed to be small dwellings,” the planning report reads.

The report describes the development as featuring an “organic design” to match similar developments in the Sunshine Beach area.

“The organic design is respectful of the local landscape, reflecting the movements of the surrounding coastal experience with curves, arches, textures, and green areas, reminiscent of whales, waves, and winds on Sunshine Beach,” the report stated.
