The Vogue Theatre Nambour closes less than a week after official launch

An entertainment venue on the Sunshine Coast has abruptly announced its temporary closure less than a week after their “huge” official launch.

The Vogue Nambour has closed temporarily.

A Sunshine Coast music venue which opened in March has closed its doors only months later and less than a week after its official launch party.

The Vogue Theatre in Nambour announced on June 20 the business will have a change in management and be shut for the time being.

Only an hour earlier, the venue posted a video of their DJ night labelled as their “official launch” and held on June 15.

“This is YUSSI (a DJ) showing Nambour and the Sunshine Coast the scene is alive,” they said in the post.

“Nambour... We want to Thank you! This long weekend was huge and you guys showed up! We have even bigger events coming up soon so make sure you keep those eyes peeled!,” The Vogue said in a different post about the night.

In the latest post on the closure, the owners stated all tickets for upcoming events would be refunded and the team looked forward to hosting at their venue again.

“We are devastated with this outcome,” they wrote in the post.

The venue was renovated and opened in March, hosting comedy nights, performances and musical events.

Prior to the most recent renovations, the space had been used as a clothing store until its closure in 2019.

The theatre was originally built in 1948 and continued to operate until 1980.

Many community members expressed their disappointment and hope for the venue’s return following the announcement.

Luke Gregson commented the venue had “so much potential” and the closure was brutal.

“Hopefully you will be back on track soon, great venue, great vibe,” he said.

Sandi Cotton said the news was “devastating”, as did several others in the post’s comments.

“Saturday was one of the best nights out I’ve had in ages, this is devastating,” she said.

Therese Brooke wrote in the comments to hope for good news of the venue’s return soon.

“I wish you all the very best with getting everything back on track,” she commented.

“We love the venue and have been telling all our friends.”
