The Coast MP and the little horse that couldn't

Grand dreams of racing success shattered by a sore foot, leaving one Coast MP to laugh while looking back on his dabble with a racehorse.

FORMER Attorney-General Jarrod Bleijie's fleeting flirtation with the horse racing industry will be short-lived by his own admission.

The Kawana MP could see the lighter side of his 18-month stint as a part owner of gelding Tapa Tine.

The 4yo spent about 17 of 18 months being spelled before making its debut in Ipswich, where it ran dead last by "about five lengths" in April last year.

That race proved to be the gelding's one and only start, as it battled a chronic sore foot.

"It basically ended up as a pet," Mr Bleijie said with a laugh.

His five per cent share in the gelding was declared in the latest Queensland Parliament Register of Members' Interests published last week.

"I probably didn't have to declare it as all it did was cost me money," Mr Bleijie said.

"It didn't live up to expectations."

Tapa Tine ended up being given to a farm as a companion for another horse, as his racing career was cut short.

Mr Bleijie declared it his "first and last" foray into horse racing.

"It's a depressing story," the registered marriage celebrant and former Elvis impersonator said with a laugh.

All State MPs were required to lodge their interests on the register and a few other quirky facts were thrown up by some of the region's other representatives.

Maroochydore MP Fiona Simpson declared she was a member of the Queensland Friends of Israel.

Glass House MP Andrew Powell declared a catered corporate box at the Brisbane Roar and a ticket and hospitality at the Broncos v Rabbitohs gifted by the Local Government Association of Queensland.

Mr Powell was given a corporate box ticket to the Wallabies v South Africa by The Star Entertainment Group.

Caloundra MP Mark McArdle confirmed he was a member of the Caloundra Community Seniors Association.
