A beautiful Queensland bride has shared her epic love story – from meeting her husband at high school and sliding into his Instagram DMs 20 years later, to whale watching in her wedding dress and arriving with her dad via helicopter on her special day.

Tammy Flux, 43, of Banksia Beach, is about to jet off on her honeymoon with her now husband Mick Flux, 43.

The pair met at Bremer State High School in Ipswich more than 20 years ago.

They were wed at Yandina Station, on the Sunshine Coast, on Friday, September 6.

Mrs Flux took a gamble when she realised Mr Flux was newly single.

“I stalked him on social media and slid into his DMs (direct messages),” she said.

“I said we should go for a beer. I hate beer.

“But he loves beer. I drank so much beer in that first three months.”

Fast forward four years and the pair are now happily in love and still riding the high from their “perfect” wedding day.

“We got married at Yandina Station and had 80 guests from all over Australia,” Mrs Flux said.

“I arrived by helicopter. As you do.

“It was such an amazing experience.”

The beautiful bride was picked up from Element on Coolum with her father and driven to Maroochydore Airport.

From there the pair boarded their private chopper and were treated to a 30 minute ride.

“We flew all over Noosa and Coolum,” Mrs Flux said.

“It was definitely the scenic route. A beautiful tour of the coast line.

“I was actually late for my own wedding in the end but it was worth it.”

While soaring above the picturesque coastline Mrs Flux and her father spotted some whales.

“We saw eight whales and a baby calf from the helicopter,” she said.

“Whale watching in my wedding dress with my dad was just amazing.

“Then when we arrived we did a cheeky fly over of the guests.

“Most of them didn’t know I was arriving in a chopper so it was really fun.

“It was honestly just the most amazing day.

“Everything I could have hoped for and more.”

The bride’s grand entrance was part of a new partnership between OceanView Helicopters and Yandina Station.

Yandina Station is set on 217 acres west of Coolum and Noosa beaches. It’s home to three cottages for on-site accommodation, an events venue for up to 180 guests seated.

Karl Mayne, co-founder and chief pilot at OceanView Helicopters, said he was excited by the new offer.

“The experience of flying over the Sunshine Coast taking in our beaches, wildlife, sunsets or sunrises then across the lush hinterland to land at Yandina Station is so incredibly special and unique,” he said.

“With Tammy and Mick’s wedding on Friday, we flew her and her Dad from Sunshine Coast Airport over the coastline where we spotted whales and dolphins before heading inland to Yandina Station where her closest friends and family were eagerly waiting for her arrival.

“We did an orbit of the property giving her a birds eye view of her own wedding. Those are memories that she will have forever with her Dad and that is very special.”

Mrs Flux said it was an “epic day” she’d never forget.

“I don’t know why more brides don’t arrive in a helicopter,” Mrs Flux laughed.

“I would 100 per cent recommend it.”
