A WANTED man allegedly rammed a police car in a desperate attempt to escape in a dramatic chase.

An off-duty police officer spotted a suspected stolen car on the Old Bruce Highway at Yandina yesterday before traffic police, general officers and the dog squad were called in to help about 1.30pm.

Police followed the car, believed to have been stolen from Kunda Park on Thursday, down a dirt road to a camp site.

The man allegedly refused to get out of the car and rammed the marked dog squad car three times.

Dramatic Nambour arrest

Police body-cam footage shows the man drive the suspect car forward into mud where the wheels spin and he is unable to drive away.

Police arrested the man and he was charged with five counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and four counts of car theft, among other offences.

No officers were injured.
