A SURFER who revolutionised the sport in the late 1960s and '70s and a filmmaker who helped put wave-riding on the big screen will star at The Board Meeting Legends of Surf long lunch.
Wayne Lynch was a teenager from Lorne, Victoria, when he was first noticed for his radically new vertical style and prowess, attracting monikers as "the golden child of Australian surfing”, "wonder kid” and "man-child messiah”.
The 2013 Unchartered Waters, directed by Craig Griffin, was a feature-length documentary tracing his upbringing in the seaside town.
Hawaiian waterman and filmmaker extraordinaire Jack McCoy has been documenting surfing for almost 40 years with gems such as Bunyip Dreamin', Blue Horizon and A Deeper Shade of Blue among the surfing fraternity's favourites.
Lynch and McCoy will be guest speakers at the noon lunch on July 6 at Maroochy RSL in Memorial Ave, Maroochydore.
The charity lunch will raise much-needed funds for Sunshine Coast children with disabilities.
A third speaker is yet to be announced but is rumoured to be a world champion and true legend of the sport.
This is a rare chance to have lunch with some of the legends that helped shape surfing in Australia and around the globe.
The day includes an auction of some exclusive surf memorabilia and surfboards.
