One incredibly lucky horse racing punter has turned $50 into $51,000 with a multi bet on the Sunshine Coast races on Saturday.

The punter placed a four-leg multi bet on races six, seven, eight and nine, that included win bets of horses Dreamreacher ($2.80), Blackjack Boom ($6.50), Shamrock Lu ($7.50) and Explosive Quality ($7.50).

The odds totalled to $1023.75 with the unknown punter walking away with an extra $51,187.50 in their pockets.

A TAB spokesman said it was one of the biggest collects at the Sunshine Coast in recent years.

“It’s a phenomenal turnaround and just imagine how nervous the punter would’ve been watching the last race of Explosive Quality which won from a photo finish,” he said.

“I think that would be, especially as a multi bet, one of the largest payouts of it’s sort from the Sunshine Coast.”

He said TAB was still trying to locate who and where the bet was placed.

“We’re not sure who placed the bet as of yet but that punter has done extremely well on what was a very tough day at the Sunshine Coast,” the spokesman said.

Sunshine Coast Turf Club Chief Executive John Miller said it would be one of the biggest public returns he remembers.

“I haven’t seen the post but off the top of my head I don’t recall seeing anything publicly of that size recently,” he said.

The win follows another successful multi after Ladbrokes posted a photo of a punter turning $20 into $42,000 at the Sunshine Coast in September, 2021.

One other notable Sunshine Coast collect came in May, 2012 when a Tattsbet punter placed $150 on Bear’s Echelon, who went onto win at $81 odds, and collected $12,150.

Due to the ongoing renovations at the Eagle Farm racecourse in Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast will host the midweek metropolitan meeting on Wednesday with a seven race card.

You can find all the best bets from racing reporter Eddie Franklin and Queensland racing analyst Chris Nelson online on Tuesday afternoon.
