Maroochydore Rd ute fire

Police are investigating after a ute was fully engulfed by flames on the side of the road in Buderim and with no owner in sight.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said crews were called to the scene along Maroochydore Rd at 6.30am on Friday.

She said the white Nissan Navara ute was “well involved” upon arrival, with crews taking 15 minutes to douse the flames.

She said crews then used hydraulic cutting gear to help police gain access to the vehicle.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said there were no occupants, with the owner nowhere to be found and plates missing from the vehicle.

She said police were working to find the owner of the ute.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman confirmed no injuries were reported.

Joshua Henshaw managed to capture vision of the inferno on his morning commute.

He could be heard on the unedited clip swearing in disbelief as the flames shot up.

He said the ute was on fire just before the Kuluin turn off heading west towards Kunda Park.

He said he didn’t see the driver.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said the ute was suspected to have been stolen and police are seeking any witnesses or dashcam footage of the incident.
