Two people at Noosaville were arrested on Friday for alleged breaches to Covid-19 lockdown restrictions as police continue a strict patrolling regime
Queensland Police Deputy Commissioner Steve Gollschewski said police arrested four people on Friday including the two at Noosaville.
“We had two persons at Noosaville who not only refused to check in with the check-in app, then refused to wear masks and then decided to have an argument with police,” he said.
“So that kind of behaviour is just not going to be tolerated.”
Mr Gollschewski said police only fined people “who simply will not do the right thing”.
A Queensland Police spokesman said on the Sunshine Coast one person was fined $1378 for not complying with lockdown restrictions and five people were fined $206 for mask infringements on Friday.
As of Friday police had issued more than $10,000 in fines since the start of the lockdown on the Sunshine Coast.
Police have set up RBT-style checkpoints around the Sunshine Coast since Wednesday.
On its first day 270 drivers were stopped and on Thursday a further 400 were pulled up.
District Superintendent Craig Hawkins said no tickets were issued.
Mounted police started their patrol of Sunshine Coast beachside suburbs from Friday to further enforce strict lockdown requirements.
Superintendent Hawkins said the message was clear, stay at home.
“Mounted units will be here supporting officers along the beaches and intercepting people,” Superintendent Hawkins said.
“The pop-up sites will be in place for the duration of the lockdown and we hope to see co-operation until the end of it.
“Police will be out to ensure people are doing the right thing.”
